Finally got a stubborn quarter crack to hold with a new glue method

Had a horse with a quarter crack that kept reopening after three shoeings. I mixed a two-part epoxy with a bit of fiberglass powder and packed it deep before applying the patch. That was six weeks ago and the hoof wall is still solid. What's your go-to for tough cracks that won't stay shut?

Nice! I've used that fiberglass trick too. Try adding a thin wire stitch across the crack before packing it.

Remember my buddy tried that wire trick on his old canoe. He used some thin copper wire, stitched it across a nasty crack in the hull like he was sewing it shut. He packed the whole thing with epoxy putty after. Thing held for two whole seasons before he sold it, no leaks at all. Makes you wonder why more kits don't include that stuff, right?

Yeah the wire stitch is smart. I mean, that's basically how they fix cracks in concrete, right? Same idea.
