Just realized I was trimming a hoof way too short on a draft horse in Kentucky
I was working on a big Belgian last week and got a little too aggressive with the nippers. The horse flinched and I knew right away I'd gone too far. I had to stop, pad the shoe with a leather wedge for a couple weeks until it grew back. Anyone else had to fix a too-close trim on a heavy horse?

Ugh, been there! My farrier calls my occasional over-trimming "getting a little too artistic.

Read an article once that said the sheer weight makes their hooves more sensitive to over-trimming. Makes you extra careful after a mistake.
