My boss in Kentucky always said a hoof is like a puzzle, and I finally get it

Heard him tell a client 'you can't force the pieces' when fitting a shoe, and it clicked for me about patience. Anyone else have a saying that changed how you work?

Ever notice how the best advice for a job is usually just good advice for life? Your boss is right, you can't force the pieces whether it's a hoof, a flat pack bookshelf, or a tough conversation. That idea of patience and working with the shape of the problem, not against it, shows up everywhere once you start looking. It's why you let glue dry and why you wait for someone to cool down before you talk. We get told to push hard, but a lot of times the real skill is knowing when to stop pushing and just fit things together right.

You said it shows up everywhere once you start looking. I find it's the same with bad advice, the push hard stuff. It makes you miss the quiet moments where things actually click into place on their own.

Jokes on me, I force everything including zippers and my patience.
