Remember when a new rasp was just a new rasp?
Bought a fancy 'ergonomic' handle for my rasp about five years ago, cost me $45. It was supposed to reduce fatigue, but the grip was so bulky it threw off my feel for the hoof. Ended up going back to the plain wood handle after two weeks. Anyone else get burned by a 'comfort' tool that just made the work harder?

Tell me about it. I bought a fancy "anti-vibration" hammer once. My arm felt fine but I missed every other nail. My wallet was lighter and my pride took a hit.

My old shop teacher swore by the basic Nicholson rasps for years. I used to laugh and thought he was just stuck in his ways. After wasting sixty bucks on a "precision grip" file that made my hand cramp up in twenty minutes, I finally got what he meant. Sometimes the simple tool you already know how to use is the right one.
