That week last July when nothing went right with shoes

Had a horse last summer that just would not stand still no matter what I tried. Took me 45 minutes just to get the fronts done because she kept shifting weight every time I got close with the rasp. Then my forge propane ran out halfway through heating the back shoes and I had to drive 30 miles to the nearest supplier to refill. By the time I got back it was pushing 95 degrees and the horse was sweating worse than me. Has anyone else had one of those weeks where you question if you picked the right trade?

But isn't that kind of day exactly what builds the thicker skin this trade demands? Maybe the horse picking up on your frustration is actually a good lesson in patience you needed to learn.

Totally been there. That week sounds like a nightmare from start to finish. Horses always know when you're in a hurry or short on patience, they pick up on it. And running out of propane in the middle of a job is the worst, especially when it's already hot. Makes you wonder if the universe is messing with you. Some days I swear the work is more about breaking your spirit than working with your hands.
