Tried a new rasp on a tough quarter crack and it made a huge difference
Honestly, I was working on a draft horse with a deep crack and my usual file just wasn't cutting it. I switched to a Heller 14 inch rasp and it cleaned the edges up in half the time. Has anyone else found a specific tool that really changed how you handle a common problem?

Wait, a 14 inch rasp? That's a monster, how do you even hold it steady?

Imagine trying to control that thing on a piece of pine, it would just jump and chatter all over the place. You'd need to put your whole body weight into it just to make a cut. I bet @wesleyw46 is picturing some poor soul trying to shape a small curve with a rasp that's basically a small sword. The leverage would be insane, but so would the chance of ruining your workpiece in half a second. That's a tool for serious stock removal on something huge, not fine work.

Honestly the real issue is the handle. Most guys using a rasp that big would probably try a standard wood grip, but that's asking for blisters and zero control. You'd want a proper file handle, maybe even something custom wrapped for grip. Even then, your arms are gonna be toast after five minutes. It becomes less about skill and more about pure endurance.
