Vent: Bought a $75 'self-adjusting' hoof stand that just wobbled and tipped over.

Ugh, that "self-adjusting" claim is such a letdown! I've totally been there with gear that promises to be stable and just... isn't. It's so frustrating when you're trying to get work done and you're fighting with a wobbly tool instead. Feels like you just wasted your money on a fancy paperweight. Solidarity, that's super annoying.

Ha, I gotta disagree a bit here! Honestly, I've had some self-adjusting stuff that worked great for me. Like my old tripod from a few years back had this foot that just gripped whatever surface I put it on gravel, carpet, even a slanted driveway. Not gonna lie, it wasn't perfect every time but it did the job way better than a standard one. Maybe you just got a bad batch or a cheap brand? Sometimes those "self-adjusting" claims are more about marketing than real engineering, so I get why you'd be skeptical. But I wouldn't write off the whole idea just yet.

Man, isn't that the worst? I bought a "no-tip" bucket seat last year that was just as bad. Thing fell over if you looked at it funny, total waste of cash. So yeah, I feel your pain lol.
