Vent: I was trimming a draft cross last week and the owner pointed out a weird wear pattern.

I've been using the same rasp technique for years, basically just going to town on the hoof wall. This client, who's a retired farrier herself, asked if I ever rolled the toe after I finished. I said no, and she showed me how my flat finish was creating a sharp edge that chipped. It was a total 'oh' moment. Has anyone else had a client catch a basic flaw you'd been missing?

That "basic flaw" sounds pretty minor to me, honestly.

Know exactly how that feels, getting so stuck in your own way of doing things you miss the obvious. That's a solid tip from your client, and I wouldn't call it minor like viola_cooper62 did. Those little chips from a sharp edge can lead to bigger cracks, so fixing it is a big deal. It's honestly a good reminder that we can always learn something, even from a retired pro watching us work.
