Watching a farrier in Montana handle a spooked horse changed how I approach every nervous animal now.
He just stood still, kept his voice low, and waited a full three minutes for the horse to come to him, which made me realize my own rush was the problem.

My old boss used to count to sixty in his head before moving. I mean, three minutes feels like forever but it's what they need.
