Blew 200 dollars on fancy zippers that didn't work with my machine

I bought a bunch of those high-end YKK zippers online thinking they'd make my jackets look pro, but my home sewing machine just couldn't handle the nylon coil ones. Has anyone else hit this roadblock with heavy duty zippers?

Honestly I think the issue is more about your machine than the zippers. A good heavy duty zipper usually needs a stronger setup to run smoothly.

Jumped into a sewing circle last week and my friend Sarah was telling me about her zipper nightmare with a canvas tote bag. @carter.jennifer you're pretty much spot on. She had this industrial strength zipper that kept skipping and breaking needles on her older Singer, but when she borrowed my friend's old Consew, it ran through like butter. The feed dogs just couldn't handle the thickness on her home machine. She ended up swapping to a lighter zipper for the bag, but the tension issues on that old machine never really went away. You think a machine upgrade is worth it for someone doing mostly heavy duty stuff?
