Broke down and tried draping on a dress form instead of flat pattern making
I spent years doing flat patterns and thought draping was just for people who didn't know how to draft. After watching a 20 minute video from a designer in NYC I gave it a shot with some cheap muslin and got the shoulder fit right on my first try. Has anyone else had a specific technique click way later than it should have?

Yeah that princess seam thing hits close to home, I felt the exact same way.

Stuck with draping for years too because flat patterns felt more 'legit' somehow. Finally tried it on a stubborn princess seam that never looked right on paper and got it perfect in about ten minutes. Really opened my eyes to how much the fabric wants to tell you where it should go. Now I use draping for any tricky curve or angle and it saves me hours of math and test garments.
