I tried designing with a mood board first versus just sketching, and the difference was huge
Last month I worked on a summer capsule collection. For the first three pieces, I just started sketching shapes I liked. For the next three, I spent a full day making a digital mood board with color swatches, fabric textures, and street style photos from Tokyo. The pieces from the mood board felt way more put together and had a clear vibe, while my first sketches were all over the place. I mean, the color palette alone made picking fabrics 50% faster. Has anyone else found that one method just clicks better for starting a project?

Oh man, do I ever get this. I used to just dive right into drawing too, and my stuff always felt kind of random. Making a mood board first totally changed my game. It's like having a map so you don't get lost halfway through. That focus from the colors and photos keeps me from going off track. What kind of vibe did your Tokyo street style photos give you?

My Tokyo mood board last year saved me from a total color disaster (seriously, it was bad).
