I was sketching a jacket for six months before my friend in Portland pointed out the shoulder seams were in the wrong place.

Have you tried flipping it like @max808 said? That mirror trick always shows me my mistakes.

Ever get so stuck looking at your own work you miss the obvious thing? I had that happen with a sewing pattern I was drafting for weeks. I finally just took a picture of it with my phone and flipped the image horizontally, like looking in a mirror. It was crazy how many weird lines and imbalances jumped out at me right away. That trick saved me a ton of time. Maybe try looking at your sketch in a mirror or flipping a photo of it.
