Just realized my linen blend fabric shrank way more than expected after a cold wash
I made a pair of wide-leg pants from a beautiful 70/30 linen-cotton blend I got in Austin. After a gentle cold wash and air dry, they shrunk a full two inches in length and got weirdly stiff. I learned the hard way that some linen blends need a pre-wash, even on cold. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific fabric they thought was safe?

Oh man, I feel this. I once made a whole shirt from what I swore was "pre-shrunk" cotton twill. After one wash it could have fit my cat. Why do fabrics lie to us like that?

Yeah linen blends are sneaky like that. Always wash a swatch first, even on cold. The stiffness might go away after a few more washes though.
