Had a chat with a guy in Boise that changed how I think about post spacing

Honestly, I was setting a line of fence in this new subdivision and had my posts at the standard 8 feet. This older guy, the homeowner's dad named Frank, came out and asked why I didn't go 7 feet 6 inches on the center. He said with the high winds they get off the plains, the tighter spacing makes the whole thing a lot stiffer without needing bigger posts. Ngl, it made sense once I thought about it. Has anyone else run into this kind of local trick for different areas?

Ever tried that spacing on a slope? It works even better there because the shorter panels handle the grade change without looking weird. Frank knows his stuff.

Frank's a pro, but my own slope project looked like a toddler stacked the panels.
