Dude I did something similar with a post hole digger except I was the one who nearly got thrown into a thorn bush. At least if my arm got torn off I could've blamed the auger instead of my own stupidity. Guess we both learned that hydraulic anything is basically a metal monster waiting to eat you.

Three out of four of my neighbors own some kind of hydraulic equipment now, and I swear every single one has a story about almost losing a finger or getting pinned. It's like people forget that once you add oil pressure to anything, it just becomes a slow motion car crash waiting to happen. I see it in kitchens too with those pressure cookers, people not reading the manual and then acting shocked when the lid shoots off. Honestly half the stuff in my garage should come with a warning label that says "this will break you if you get careless." We just get so used to things being easy and safe that we totally forget basic physics still applies.
