I finally gave up on burping my hot sauce jars after a friend's tip

My buddy in Denver told me to just use an airlock lid from the start, and after my last batch didn't explode, I'm convinced. Anyone have a good source for those wide-mouth plastic ones?

Yeah, those airlock lids are a total game changer. I saw a whole thread on a fermenting sub about how they basically eliminate the burping guesswork. Most homebrew shops online should have the wide mouth ones.

Right, and you can even do a whole batch of hot sauce or fermented salsa in one jar without having to babysit it. The wide mouth ones fit on the regular Ball jars you probably already have. I did a batch of jalapeno slices with one and just let it sit for three weeks without touching it. The only downside is you still have to burp it if you use a solid lid to shake it up or check the pH, but for the hands off stuff they're worth it.
