I thought pushing Portra 400 to 800 ISO was just a recipe for bad grain, but my shots from a dim concert last month proved me wrong.

The guy at my local lab in Austin said to just trust the process, and the shadows held detail way better than my digital shots from the same night, so what's your take on pushing film versus just using a faster stock?

Honestly, I used to think that too, but pushing film can really surprise you.

Pushed some Portra 400 two stops last month and the results were shockingly good.
