DAE think home inspection reports are designed to confuse buyers?

I was totally lost until I insisted my inspector break it down for me. Now I spot red flags right away and dodged a money pit!

My Arizona inspection report had this template section calling all foundation hairline cracks 'immediate concerns.' When I asked, the guy just shrugged and said it's standard to avoid lawsuits. Now I skip to the pics and handwritten notes first.

Classic CYA move from the inspection industry (wouldn't want anyone to actually trust the report, right?). That guy probably has a checkbox for 'breathing air' as a potential hazard too. Makes you wonder if they even look at the foundation or just copy-paste fear into every document. No surprise we all become expert report translators after buying a house or two. At least the handwritten notes might have a clue what's really going on (if you can read the scribble).

Yeah that's so frustrating. I mean you pay for a real opinion and get a bunch of legal copy instead. I had a report once that flagged every single outlet cover as a safety issue, like come on. You end up having to read between the lines yourself, which kinda defeats the whole point of hiring them. Smart move going straight to the pictures and notes, that's the only part that feels like a human actually looked at the house.
