My home inspector missed a cracked sewer line under the driveway that cost me $8k to fix two months after closing.

I had to drain my emergency fund completely and now I'm telling every new buyer to pay for a separate sewer scope, no matter what the general inspector says.

I mean, that's awful but I'd still trust a good general inspector over a separate check for everything.

But @patricia_king23 is right, a good inspector should catch the big stuff.
