Vent: My mortgage pre-approval took 3 months instead of 2 weeks
Honestly, I thought getting a pre-approval for my first house would be a quick formality. Took me 3 whole months and four rounds of paperwork because my bank kept asking for tax returns from a freelance job I did 2 years ago. By the time it came through, the interest rate had already shifted twice and I lost out on a house I liked. Has anyone else had the pre-approval process drag on way longer than the bank promised?

Three months, that's rough. I remember applying for my pre-approval back in 2021 and the guy at the bank asked for a copy of my high school diploma because my credit report showed a misspelling from a student loan I took out in 2003. I spent two weeks digging through old boxes in my mom's attic just to find that thing, and by the time I brought it in, the rate had gone up half a point and I ended up buying a fixer-upper with a cracked foundation. So yeah, I feel your pain on the paperwork shuffle, it's like they want you to prove you can tie your own shoes before they'll let you borrow money.
