Found a 1950s Pyrex bowl at a yard sale for $3, the booth next to it had a newer one for $15 and the difference in the glass color was huge.

Grabbed a set of those old mixing bowls at an estate sale last year, the glass just feels more solid and has that creamy look. I always check for the little stamp on the bottom to make sure it's the real deal, the new stuff never has the same weight to it. My mom still uses the ones her mom bought, they just don't make them like that anymore. What pattern did you end up finding?

Wait, are you talking about the Fire-King bowls? Because those are actually a type of glass called opal glass, not just regular glass! That's where that creamy color and weight comes from. You're so right, @the_wren, the new ones feel totally different and don't have that same stamp. I found the Primrose pattern, the one with the little yellow flowers. It's so pretty and feels so nice to use!
