Got into it with a seller over a "vintage" lamp at the St. Louis flea last month
There's this one guy at the fairgrounds market who always has a booth full of stuff he swears is from the 50s. I picked up this weird ceramic lamp shaped like an owl, and he quoted me $80 because it was "mid-century modern." I flipped it over and saw a glowing 2003 date stamp on the bottom. He got real defensive, said it was a reproduction and still worth that much. I told him I'd give him $15 for it since it was basically newer than my car. He just stared at me and said I didn't understand the market. Has anyone else dealt with sellers who straight up lie about dates or am I just unlucky?

Ugh that's so frustrating! A buddy of mine found a "vintage" Pyrex bowl at an antique mall that turned out to be a 2015 Target exclusive.

Oh man @webb.christopher, that's the worst kind of bait and switch! At least the Target ones are still Pyrex though, not some knockoff that'll shatter in the microwave.
