Hunted for a specific Stanley plane part for 8 months straight
I found a beat up Stanley No. 5 jack plane at a flea market in Ohio last spring, got it for $12. The lateral adjustment lever was broken though, and I thought it would be a quick fix. I searched every antique tool dealer and online parts site for 8 months before I found a guy on a woodworking forum who had one. Has anyone else spent way longer than expected tracking down a single part for a tool?

And that little knob probably cost him more than the whole saw did back in the day.
