Why does nobody talk about the prices in original price tags at flea markets?

I picked up a vintage Pyrex bowl at a flea market in Nashville last weekend for 8 bucks. When I flipped it over, the original sticker from 1965 said $1.29. Shocked me how much things have gone up compared to what people pay for the same stuff today. Has anyone else found old tags that made you stop and think about inflation?

Wait, you paid 8 bucks for something that was tagged at $1.29 in 1965? That's a wild jump when you think about it, because back then a dollar could get you a full meal at a diner. I guess the real mind-bender is how the bowl itself kept its value while the dollar just kept shrinking.
