Appreciation post: My old boss told me to never trust a 'self-leveling' underlayment without checking it myself
He said that back in 2015, and I just had a job in Tacoma where the homeowner swore the concrete was flat after using a product. I put a 6-foot level on it and found a half-inch dip over 4 feet, which would have wrecked the vinyl plank. What's the biggest 'trust but verify' lesson you've learned on a job?

Learned that lesson the hard way with a "quick set" floor patch. Spent a whole afternoon fixing a wavy mess because I trusted the bag's promise over my own eyes. Now my level is the first tool out of the truck, no matter what anyone says. It's saved my butt more times than I can count.

Been there, @wade_young86, and trusting the level is always the right call.
