I always thought moisture barriers were a waste on dry slabs

For years, I skipped putting down plastic sheeting on concrete that felt bone dry to cut costs and time. Then I had a laminate floor buckle in a basement that tested fine initially but had vapor coming up later. Now I roll out a barrier on every concrete subfloor, no exceptions, because that one repair job taught me a hard lesson. It just saves so much hassle down the road.

Ugh, been there. My biggest takeaway is that sealing the seams well is just as important as laying down the plastic.

Sealing the seams well, huh? Isn't that always the part that bites you? All that work for nothing if you skip it.

Is it really that big of a deal?
