I used to fight every plank on a click floor. Now I just walk away.

Five years back, I'd spend an hour trying to force a stubborn piece. My boss in Phoenix said 'a good installer never walks away'. Then a job in July, 110 degrees, I snapped three planks in a row. I left the room, drank some water, came back ten minutes later. The piece clicked right in. Heat makes the locking system swell. Ever since, if it won't go, I stop. Anyone else find a simple break fixes more than muscle?

Ever think you were just bad at it? I used to force them too, swore it was the only way. Now I know better, sometimes the material just needs a minute to settle. That ten minute break is cheaper than a busted plank.

Hard to admit, but you're right, @the_henry. Forcing it always felt like the strong move. That busted plank last year was the lesson I needed. Now I just walk away for a bit.

Ngl, I think the real issue isn't just about walking away or forcing it. It's about knowing when to listen to your gut versus your pride, which is way harder than any DIY project. Sounds like you both figured out the hard way that sometimes the material is smarter than we are.
