Question about using a different trowel notch for that new wide plank vinyl

I put down some 9-inch wide plank LVP in a kitchen last week using my usual 1/4 inch trowel, and the edges just wouldn't stay flat. Switched to the 3/8 inch notch the manufacturer actually calls for on the box, and the next day it was perfect with no peaking at all. Has anyone else run into this with the wider format planks?

Read the box next time, saves everyone the headache. Garcia.charles is right, they don't just print that stuff for fun. You basically did the job twice for no reason.

Guess they put that notch size on the box for a reason.
