Warning: Got called out for my plank layout on a big glue-down job

A senior installer saw my work on a 2,000 sq ft office and said, 'You're starting your rows from the wrong wall, kid.' He showed me how to snap a true center line off the main hallway, not just the longest wall. How do you guys figure out your starting point on commercial vinyl plank?
