A bride's mom in Charlotte told me my bouquets looked 'too perfect' last spring
She said they lacked personality and looked like they came from a factory, which honestly stung. I started adding more wild textures, like seeded eucalyptus and sprigs of herbs, to every arrangement now. How do you balance a clean design with that 'just picked' feel clients seem to want?

That mom had a point though. A lot of brides come to you for that perfect, magazine look they've been saving on Pinterest for years. My cousin paid a fortune for her wedding flowers in Raleigh and would have been upset if they looked messy or wilted. Adding too much wild stuff can cross over into looking unkempt, like you just grabbed weeds from a ditch. Sometimes clean and perfect is exactly what the client is paying for, not a personal statement.

My aunt's wedding in Charlotte had these perfect white roses, but honestly I barely remember them. The thing that stuck with me was the smell of her grandma's gardenias in her bouquet.
