TIL that picking the wrong floral foam lost me a wedding client

I used standard floral foam for a large wedding arch installation. The bride saw a post about how it's not good for the environment. She got mad and canceled her whole order with me. Now I only use biodegradable foam, but that mistake cost me a lot.

Man that reminds me of when my friend booked a singer for her cafe's opening, and the singer posted something political that half the regulars hated. The whole event got awkward and people actually boycotted for a week. It's crazy how one small thing you don't even think about can blow up like that.

Had a vendor at our farmers market share conspiracy theories on their personal page last summer. It started arguments between customers right at our booth which was awful. We asked them to keep politics off the table during market hours for everyone's comfort. Making the space neutral again stopped the yelling matches pretty fast. Sometimes you just have to set a clear rule so people can enjoy the event.
