Tried storing ranunculus in the cooler overnight and they all drooped

I had a big wedding order last Friday so I prepped about 40 stems of ranunculus the night before. Threw them in the walk-in cooler at 38 degrees like I do with roses and hydrangeas. Woke up to every single one of them completely limp, stems bent over like they were dead. Turns out ranunculus hate temps below 40 and need to stay at 45-50 instead. Has anyone else killed a batch this way or found a better trick for keeping them fresh overnight?

Wait are you serious? I always thought colder was better for everything but now I gotta rethink my whole storage game lol.

Moved mine to the garage at 50 degrees and they perked right up.

My neighbor keeps his ranunculus in a paper bag with a damp paper towel, works weirdly well.
