Just realized I had to choose between archiving my old forum or letting it fade away
I picked paying $120 a year to keep the server up, and now I'm digging through posts from 2008 that are pure internet gold. Anyone else faced the cost of preserving digital history?

My buddy found his old gaming clan forum from 2005. He spent a weekend backing it up to a hard drive, said reading those old trash talk threads was priceless.

Hah, that's awesome! Bet the old clan drama reads like a Shakespeare play now. He's sitting on a goldmine of cringe!

Honestly, @paulc93 is right, that stuff is pure gold. I read some random thread recently about a 2008 Call of Duty clan that had a whole forum meltdown over someone stealing a clan tag. It was like a soap opera, full of people posting "u mad bro?" and walls of rage text. Way better than anything on TV.
