Found a 1997 journal in a thrift store in Tulsa
It was full of receipts and notes from someone's road trip across Route 66, with prices like $0.99 for gas. Made me wonder what a similar trip would cost today and if anyone still keeps paper logs like that.

The $0.99 gas figure really got me - I think that's cheaper than a bottle of water at a gas station today. If you tried that same trip now you'd probably need to take out a second mortgage just to cover the fuel costs. I doubt many people still keep paper logs either, since most folks just track everything on their phones these days.
