Vent: I was treating every old journal like a mystery to be solved
I realized I was reading them all wrong when I found a diary from the 70s in a Seattle thrift store that was just grocery lists and TV schedules. I was looking for a hidden story, but maybe the point is just seeing a normal day. Do you ever feel like you're reading too much into the simple stuff?

My grandma's recipe box is just ingredient names, no stories, and I finally get it.

It's like how the best advice is often just a few words... the person giving it trusts you to fill in the rest with your own life. Those bare recipes assume you already know the story, you just need the map. We're losing that kind of quiet trust in each other now, where not everything has to be explained.
