Finally got my invoice system to stop being a total mess
Six months back, I was still typing every invoice by hand in a word doc and emailing it. It took me like an hour a week and I'd always forget something. After a client took 90 days to pay, I signed up for a free FreshBooks account. Now I just click a button and it sends reminders automatically. I got paid for my last three jobs in under two weeks. Has anyone else found a simple tool that fixed a huge time sink for them?

Automated reminders are the real game changer. I used to dread chasing down late payments, it felt so awkward. Setting up a system that just nudges people for you removes that whole mental block. Getting paid faster is just a nice side effect of not having to have the awkward money talk.

Document what you did step by step as you set it up. Future you will thank you when something breaks or you need to add a new client. I learned that the hard way.
