Shoutout to the client who insisted on a detailed contract for a $2k project
Honestly, I used to think a simple email agreement was fine, but having every deliverable and revision spelled out saved me from a massive scope creep argument last month. Anyone else have a contract template they actually like using?

Oh man, I feel that. Nothing like a "quick" job turning into a nightmare to make you appreciate a solid contract.

My cousin's six-month "quick" bathroom reno turned into a two-year saga with three different contractors and a lawsuit, so I get why contracts feel like armor. But honestly, I think we sometimes lean too hard on them as a shield. A contract can't stop a client from being unreasonable or a project from going sideways (it just makes the breakup cleaner). I'd rather spend that energy upfront figuring out if the client is someone I can work with long-term, not just protecting myself from the worst case. Trust me, a handshake and a shared vision have saved me more headaches than any paper ever did.

Oh man, preach. I learned that lesson the hard way on a "quick" logo job that ballooned into a full branding guide.

Absolutely, a good contract is just basic self-defense. My template started as a mess of notes from a bad website project.
