Shoutout to the client who paid me in 'exposure' and a bag of coffee beans
I agreed to design a logo for a new cafe in Portland, thinking it was a quick job. They said they couldn't pay cash but offered free coffee for a year and a shoutout on their social media. I did the work, sent the files, and got my bag of beans. Their 'shoutout' was a single Instagram story that vanished in 24 hours. Learned my lesson to get at least some money up front, even for small jobs. Anyone else get burned by a weird barter deal that sounded okay at the time?
