My new spray booth fan was a total game changer

I finally spent about $800 on a big industrial fan for my small shop spray booth. I got tired of waiting for fumes to clear after each coat. This thing moves so much air it cut my drying time in half on a recent oak table job. I can now do two finish coats in a single day without worry. Has anyone else made a shop upgrade that really paid off fast?

My old shop teacher always said oversizing fans just pushes dust around before it settles. I've had better luck with slower, steady airflow for a clear finish.

Wow, that actually makes a ton of sense. I always thought bigger fans just meant cleaner air faster. But you're right, I've seen that dust cloud swirl in my own shop when the fan is too strong. It just kicks everything up off the floor and then it all lands right back on the wet finish. A slower fan pulling air out steady seems way smarter now that I think about it.

Yeah, that dust cloud thing is so frustrating. I learned the hard way with a too strong fan in my garage. Steady pull really does work better for keeping the air clean.
