I finally figured out how to make my old Kindle Paperwhite feel fast again

My 2015 Paperwhite had gotten so slow turning pages it was driving me crazy. I saw a tip online to turn off the 'Page Refresh' setting, which redraws the screen fully every time. I tried it and the page turns are now almost instant, like a brand new device. Has anyone else found a simple setting change that made an old gadget feel new?

Wait, you had page refresh turned on this whole time? That setting is the first thing I turn off on any e-reader. It's wild to think you put up with the slow page turns for almost a decade. The screen flash every single time would drive me up the wall. That's a huge quality of life fix you just made. Your Kindle must feel like a completely different device now.

Honestly I thought that flash was just How Kindles Worked. Like a weird quirk you had to live with. I'd time my blinks to match the page turn. Got really good at it. Now it's so smooth I keep thinking the battery is dead because the screen isn't doing its little seizure.
