Just realized I was ignoring privacy issues in smart home reviews.

A user's story about their data being sold made me rethink my casual approach. I now dig deeper into privacy settings before recommending any connected device.

Look, most people trade privacy for convenience every single day. My smart speaker learns when I like coffee, my thermostat adjusts before I get home, that's the whole point. If you dig too deep into every privacy setting, you'll just end up with a dumb house again. The data is usually anonymized anyway, and honestly, the targeted ads are sometimes more useful than random ones.

Oh man, my friend's smart TV started showing ads for a medication she only talked about near it. She never searched for it online. That stuff is creepy. Makes you wonder what else is listening.
