Pro tip: Always test audio gear before a big meeting

I bought a wireless headset after reading rave reviews online. During a crucial video call with my boss, the mic cut out completely. My team thought I had dropped the call on purpose. Now I run a quick test with a friend before any important job talk. How do you check if your gadgets will hold up under pressure?

I get the worry, but testing before every call? That seems like a lot. @diana87, your friend's mute button story is rough, but it's pretty rare. Most wireless mics just work these days. I've had my voice cut out during a client pitch, and we all just laughed it off. Constant testing feels like letting gadgets control your stress level.

Ugh, that's the worst. My friend once had a job interview over Zoom where her keyboard's mute button got stuck. She spent five minutes answering a question in complete silence before she realized. It's why I now do a sound check before anything that matters.

Wait, five whole minutes of talking to herself on mute? That's a special kind of horror, I'd have to crawl into a hole and never come out. The secondhand cringe is so real. My old laptop used to make this weird robotic buzzing sound out of nowhere, like a dying spaceship. It's why I just point at my camera now and do a thumbs up before we start, no trust left at all lol.
