Showerthought: My whole week got derailed by a single bad review of a smart lock I bought.

I installed the 'SecureHome Bolt' on my front door last Tuesday, but after reading a detailed YouTube review about its app failing during a power outage, I spent the next 4 days paranoid and checking it constantly, which makes me wonder: do you guys let negative reviews completely change how you use a gadget, or do you just ignore them and form your own opinion?

Totally get that. A bad review about my robot vacuum getting stuck made me watch it like a hawk for a week. It's hard to unsee that stuff once you read it.

Bad reviews can actually be helpful though, they set realistic expectations (instead of perfect marketing promises).

But what if those bad reviews are just wrong? I've seen so many complaints that focus on user error or a single bad unit. They can scare people away from a perfectly good product for no real reason. Setting low expectations can also ruin the experience before it even starts. Sometimes it's better to just try something for yourself without all that noise in your head.
