TIL a magnetic stud finder saved my drywall patch job
I used to skip using a stud finder and just guessed where the studs were. This time, my patch was sagging because I missed the frame. Borrowing a neighbor's magnetic one showed me the exact nail spots under the paint. Now I see that even a simple gadget can prevent a lot of rework.

Good tools stop small jobs from turning into big ones.

My Phillips head screwdriver is basically a universal problem solver at this point, from tightening cabinet hinges to prying open paint cans. It's amazing how many "big jobs" are just a loose screw away from becoming a total disaster. I guess my version of a good tool is whatever is already in my hand when something breaks. What's your most used tool that probably isn't meant for half the jobs you use it for?

Totally agree about the screwdriver, mine's basically a tiny crowbar. Spencer_wood is right, but sometimes the best tool is just whatever stops the swearing.
