Garage floor debate: I'm sticking with plain concrete and here's why
I see all the hype about epoxy coats and fancy tiles, but imo bare concrete is totally underrated. My setup is just the slab it was built on, and it handles everything I throw at it. I do messy stuff like fluid changes and sanding projects, and clean up is a breeze with a hose or mop. When I drop a heavy wrench or engine part, there's no finish to chip or scratch. Sure, it doesn't look Instagram ready, but it's a workspace, not a living room. I saved a bunch of cash skipping the floor kits, money I put into a new air compressor instead. That grip is also safer when wet compared to some slick sealed surfaces. Honestly, think most folks are wasting time and money on over the top floors.

You mentioned the grip is safer when wet and I get that, but what about oil or chemical spills? I mean, doesn't bare concrete just soak that stuff in and stain forever? Do you just not care about the stains, or is there a trick to getting it out of plain concrete that I don't know about?

Stains happen but grip matters more, right?

My garage floor looks like a modern art project from all the oil stains. Honestly, after the third quart of gear oil went down, I just embraced it as a non-slip texture feature. The real trick is spilling a little bit of everything so it all blends into one ugly brown.
