I finally saw a shift towards more abstract shapes at local galleries.

Abstract glass art is getting popular, but does it hold up to traditional forms?

Honestly the coolest part is how the process changes. Traditional glasswork is about total control and perfect skill, but a lot of abstract stuff thrives on happy accidents in the studio, stuff the artist couldn't fully plan. Makes the final piece feel way more raw and in the moment. A flaw in a classic vase ruins it, but in an abstract shape that same bubble or bend might become the best part. It turns the whole idea of mastery on its head.

Think about how it feels to walk around a big abstract piece, the way light moves through it compared to a classic vase. That physical experience is totally different.

It's like loving worn-in jeans more than new ones.
