Bringing up laminated glass for a storefront caused a quiet debate
We were replacing a large store window, and the team always uses tempered glass for strength. I suggested laminated might be better for sound reduction and security. This led to a few uncomfortable glances and a quiet chat over coffee break. The client overheard and asked for laminated, which we installed without issue.

The security difference gets real with that plastic interlayer holding broken glass together. A determined thief with a brick will just go through tempered panes, but laminated makes them work for it. Your client was smart to ignore the side-eye and ask for the better product.

Hey @dylanf78, laminated glass is tougher for sure. But tempered panes aren't so easy to break either - they can take a good hit. Your client still picked well going with laminated.

My buddy's shop in Toledo had laminated glass windows and someone still smashed through them last winter. Sometimes the extra cost just gives a false sense of security.
