My sibling is too scared to try investing after seeing our parents stress

My younger sibling saw our mom and dad worry when the market went down a while back. Now they think all investing is too risky. How do I show them it doesn't have to be that way?

Oh man, that's such a common story. It's like when someone has one bad car wreck and then refuses to ever drive again. The thing is, your folks' stress probably came from having the wrong type of investments for their nerves, or needing that money too soon. There are steady ways to get started that don't feel like a roller coaster, like just putting a little into a broad index fund every month. That early scare can really color someone's whole view if they don't see the quieter, long-term picture.

That early money stress really sticks with you, doesn't it.

My mom only had $25 a week for groceries when I was little. That constant counting actually taught me how to stretch a dollar and get creative with cheap ingredients. I still bake my own bread because of it. For me, that early watchfulness became a practical skill, not a heavy weight.
