Finding that unlisted childhood animation channel has me questioning archiving ethics.

Now I'm torn between preserving a piece of internet history and respecting the creator's likely intention to keep it hidden.

That's the digital version of hoarding old toys in the attic. You know you'll never actually use them again, but throwing them out feels wrong. The archive is probably a mercy for everyone involved.

My buddy saved a ton of old Newgrounds animations that would be gone forever otherwise. I see it as saving a real piece of history, not just hoarding stuff. The creator might not want it up now, but future people will be glad someone kept it.
